Custom Movie Poster Design

Creative Concept Development

Visual Direction & Development

Copywriting (Title Adaptations)

Photoshop Compositing & Design

overview

This project was completed for a mortgage firm looking to create a creative, personalized holiday gift for their real estate clients and partners.

Over the course of a couple months, I designed 42 fully customized movie-style posters*, each tailored to an individual recipient. The project combined concept development, copywriting, and advanced Photoshop compositing to create something memorable, personal, and visually polished; a branded creative initiative that left a lasting impression on every recipient.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Creative direction and concept development

  • Visual direction and concept selection

  • Copywriting (real estate and mortgage-themed title adaptations)

  • Photoshop compositing and design execution

  • Consistency and quality management across 42 custom designs within a fixed timeline

the challenge

This project required balancing creativity, personalization, and efficiency within a tight timeline.

Each poster needed to feel unique while maintaining a consistent level of quality across all designs. At the same time, the concepts and title adaptations needed to feel natural and well-executed, without coming across as forced or overly gimmicky.

An additional layer of complexity came from selecting movie posters* that would realistically work with each client’s headshot—ensuring the composition, angle, lighting, and expression aligned well enough to create a seamless final result.

Some posters also required adapting concepts to accommodate teams rather than individuals, which meant considering the number of people, gender representation, and overall composition. In certain cases, designs needed to be adjusted or reworked to ensure a cohesive and balanced final layout.

the solution

Each poster was approached as an individual concept while following a structured creative process.

Movie selections were made intentionally, based on how well they aligned with each client’s headshot in terms of composition, angle, and lighting. From there, custom title adaptations were developed using real estate and mortgage-related wordplay, ensuring each concept felt both relevant and natural.

Client images were then integrated into each design, with adjustments made to lighting, color, and tone to create a cohesive and realistic final result. Typography was also refined to match the original poster style, maintaining the integrity of each concept.

This approach allowed for both creative flexibility and consistency across all 42 designs.

creative direction

Each concept began with selecting a recognizable movie poster that offered both strong visual composition and potential for adaptation.

Posters were chosen based on how well they aligned with each client’s headshot while considering factors like angle, lighting, and overall structure to ensure a seamless final result.

Custom titles were developed for each poster using real estate and mortgage-related wordplay.

Each title was written to feel natural within the original movie format, balancing humor with a clean, polished presentation.

the execution

The execution required precision and attention to detail across every piece.

Each poster was carefully composited to ensure the final result felt seamless and true to the original design. This included integrating each client’s headshot, adjusting for lighting and angle, and refining skin tones to match the surrounding composition.

Color grading and tonal adjustments were applied to align with the original poster aesthetic, while typography was recreated and refined to maintain consistency and authenticity.

With 42 individual designs completed within a set timeline, maintaining quality and visual consistency across every piece was a key priority throughout the process.

TECHNICAL EXECUTION

  • High-quality head swaps and facial blending

  • Skin tone, lighting, and shadow matching

  • Color grading to match original poster styles

  • Typography recreation and refinement

  • Final quality checks across all designs

the results

This project demonstrates the ability to take a creative concept from idea to execution, delivering 42 fully customized designs within a defined timeline.

By combining concept development, copywriting, and technical execution, the final pieces created a highly personalized and memorable experience for each recipient. What could have been a standard holiday gift was transformed into something thoughtful, engaging, and visually impactful.

The project also highlights the ability to manage high-volume creative work while maintaining consistency, quality, and attention to detail across every deliverable.

Creative projects like this sit at the intersection of strategy and execution; the same approach I bring to website design, content creation, and marketing materials for growing businesses.

Whether the deliverable is a campaign asset, a brand piece, or something entirely custom, the process is always the same: intentional, polished, and built around the goal.

*This project was completed for a client as a series of custom, non-commercial holiday gifts. All movie titles, imagery, and original poster designs are the property of their respective copyright holders. These designs were created as parody-style adaptations for private use only and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of the original films or studios.

The most memorable work isn’t always the most traditional.

Bring your ideas to life with creative that’s thoughtful, intentional, and built to stand out.
